READING 3 - 2nd Kings 5
In
2nd Kings 5, Elisha the man of God had told Naaman that he did NOT
want any money for healing him of deadly leprosy. In verse 15,
Naaman responded by joyfully saying
“Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except
in Israel;
now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.” But Elisha]
said no thank you, and left with his servant Gehazi. But Gehazi
returned secretly to tell Naaman that Elisha had changed
his mind
and wanted money for the healing that YHWH God had done. Gehazi
reasoned to himself that HE could get some money easily, so he lied
and said that Elisha now wanted 2 talents of silver and two changes
of garments. Naaman gladly gave it. Gehazi snuck back to where
Elisha was. Elisha asked him,
e men go, and they departed. 25 Now he went in and stood before his
master. Elisha said to him, “Where did you go, Gehazi?” And
[Gehazi] said,
“Your servant did not go anywhere.” But God revealed to Elisha
that Gehazi was lying....
and put upon Gehazi the same
deadly leprosy from
which God had healed Naaman.

LYRICS Story:
Lyrics
were written a year before the music as an actual prayer -- FEARFUL
that I too might easily betray God with a selfish heart unless He
helps me -- while I was studying the Acts story and remembering the
tale of greedy Gehazi. The LORD gave me the idea to put these
histories together as a united prayer in a song.
